The Gunas

In our Yoga practice we are currently investigating the three essential qualities of nature.

These are Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas, collectively known as the Gunas:

Rajas - action, energy, movement, change, restlessness

Tamas - laziness, inactivity, inertia

Sattva - harmony, balance, joy, peace, wellness.

All three gunas are always present in all beings, and the objects surrounding us, but they vary in their relative amounts.

Humans have the unique ability to consciously alter the levels of the gunas in our bodies and minds. We are able to increase or decrease, depending on how we are feeing.

We start by recognising these various energies and then use asanas (postures), pranayama (breath), mudras (hand gestures) and meditation to alter them to bring balance into our lives.

Come and join us, all are welcome, no experience is necessary 🙏🏻
